Gross ass pistons. Rifle was fine

I’m not a big fan of piston driven AR’s.

Pistons are a better option for AR’s under 20” barrels though… Patriot Ordinance did a really interesting video on the subject, actually.

Under 20”??? That’s almost every AR made… Not many if any at all are made with barrels over 20”

I don’t know much about barrels and what not. I am trying to learn.
But it seems strange to me to put 1:8 twist rate on a really short barrel, wouldn’t that mean it would have  hard time stabilizing bullets? wouldn’t a more aggressive twist rate be better?

1:7 twist rate is nearly aggressive enough to strip the jacket from the bullet and stabilizes THE SHIT out of the bullet. I hear a lot of good stuff about 1:8 twist though. Specifically in regards to bullet expansion. With the bullet being less stabilized, there is a better chance for it to tumble and disintegrate and fuck up somebody’s innards. Not that 1:7 doesn’t do this, only that the 1:8 is supposedly better for it. Anyway, piston driven shit is good for full-auto guns. A piston works better for prolonged and excessive full-auto shooting. But a standard DI gun can do the same thing. Just don’t get too unnecessarily crazy with it. DI is the best for an AR style rifle. It was built around that.
